Admissions Process

We take great consideration and care in our placement process.  Priority is given to returning families and Boxford residents but we also keep in mind the need to have gender balance within the age range of a class.

Student Application Guidelines

How old does my child have to be in September?

  • Children must be 2.9  years old at the time of entrance.

As a first time applicant to Village School, what is your enrollment process?

  • Once you have taken a tour of our school, we will email you a link to complete an application and to make your application fee payment.  Returning students and siblings are guaranteed placement for the following school year provided we receive an application by January 15th.  Remaining spaces are filled with new students based on the need to balance boy/girl ratios and the age range within the class.  Program placement letters (2-Day Preschool, Older 3's Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten) will be emailed beginning in December and as soon as possible after receipt of the application and application fee.  Class schedule information will be confirmed by the end of March.

Do returning families follow the same process?

  • Returning families are not required to take a tour.  We will provide all currently enrolled returning families with a link to complete the online application and an invoice to make the application fee payment. Returning families who do not have a child currently enrolled can call or email us at myvillageschool@gmail.com or 978-352-7294 for the application.  The rest of the process is the same for returning families as it is for new families.

Is my application fee refundable?

  • The $55 application fee must be received for us to process your application.  This fee may be paid online, through an invoice that will be emailed to you once we receive your application, or by mailing a check to us at: Village School, PO Box 145, Boxford, MA 01921.  The application fee is non-refundable.

What options do I have if the program for my child's age group is full when I submit my application?

  • Your child's name will be placed on our "Wait List" in the order the application was received.  Placement will occur as slots become available.

How do I secure a slot for my child?

  • A non-refundable deposit of $200 will be due by the later of January 15 or within three weeks of receiving the placement letter.  The $200 is deducted from next year's tuition.

Who is responsible for the placement decision?

  • The Board has designated that the Directors have the final decision on placement.

When will we know the names of my child's teachers?

  • In August, your child will receive a special letter of introduction from the assigned classroom teachers.  It includes a time and date to come and visit before school begins in September.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

  • Although we do encourage families to work on the toilet training process before school begins, we do not require children be toilet trained to attend school.  Through the years, we have learned that those who are trained have a much easier transition into the classroom. We have changing facilities as required by our state-licensing agency.  All preschools are required to accommodate the child's physical as well as their emotional needs as they master the toileting process.

Would you like to talk to a current parent in our school?

  • Please contact our Directors, Christy Christianson or Andrea Green, at 978-352-7294 and they will be happy to provide you with a list of parents who can share their experiences with you.
